Description of Association Analyses Name of analysis: Common Variants in DRD2 are Associated with Sleep Duration: The CARe Consortium Analysis description: The NHLBI Candidate-gene Association Resource (CARe) is comprised of nine cohorts, including Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC), Cardiovascular Health Study (CHS), Cleveland Family Study (CFS), Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults (CARDIA), Framingham Heart Study (FHS), Jackson Heart Study (JHS), Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA), and the Sleep Heart Health Study (SHHS). Participants were genotyped for ~50,000 SNPs from 2,000 candidate heart, lung, blood, and sleep genes. African-Americans were also genotyped using an Affymetrix 6.0 SNP array platform. This analysis of self-reported sleep duration includes 25,465 individuals from four population groups: 5,842 African-Americans; 546 Asian-Americans, 18,026 European-Americans, and 1,051 Hispanic-Americans. Analysis method description: Individual SNP analysis using a linear model was performed using PLINK 1.07 and GWAF 1.2 (for family data). Meta-analysis was performed using METAL (2011-03-25 source) with genomic control applied. QQ plots were also generated as part of QC. Sample population: Individual analyses were performed on African-Americans, Asian-Americans, European-Americans, and Hispanic-Americans. A combined meta-analysis was also performed across the four sample populations.
